Our Approach
Child Therapy Approach
Children and adolescents ages 6-17.
Children and youth learn from what and who is around them. They look to those most immediately around them to give them structure and a sense of feeling safe. Our goal is to help your child learn and understand appropriate ways to get their needs met and to learn skills to work through anxiety and feel safe. We use a behavioral therapeutic approach to understand the challenging presenting behavior. Additionally it is important for you the parent or guardian to be involved in this type of therapy. We work with parents through coaching, modeling, and skill building. Our office is equipped for play, coloring, and a few puzzles and games to help create a less intimidating environment for your child while I work with them.
Adult Therapy Approach
Getting counseling for yourself can be a tough decision. All kinds of questions may go through your head, "Will I be able to find the right counselor?" "Will they be able to understand and help me?" "Will I able be able to afford counseling?" Our hope is that we can help you answer these questions as well as any others you may have with regard to your counseling needs. Cognitive behavioral and solution focused treatment models are used to address distortions that are keeping you from functioning in your life. We want to help you see the problem so you can see the solution.
Family Therapy Approach
The primary focus in family therapy is on relationship dynamics. How you interact with each other has impacts on the family as a unit. Our goal is to help you stop the negative loops so you can have healthy dynamics in your family and/or relationships.
